We move your website to HostNil for you, free of charge. Our technical team handles the transfer of files, databases and email, and we plan the switchover so downtime stays as short as possible.
How to request it #
- Open a ticket with the Migration department at clients.hostnil.com/submitticket.php.
- Give us your current control panel address, username and password.
- Confirm that the details work and that the panel can be reached with them. A wrong password is the most common reason a migration stalls before it starts.
Once we have working access we will confirm a time with you and begin. Most sites are finished within 24 hours, though larger accounts can take longer.
Common questions #
Will anything be deleted from my old hosting?
No. We only copy. Everything stays exactly as it is on the old host, so you can check the new site before cancelling anything.
I have ten websites in one cPanel. Can you move them all?
Yes. Ten, twenty or fifty — we transfer the whole cPanel account. Just make sure the plan you have bought from us allows that many websites, since the transfer cannot add capacity your package does not include.
I already host a site with you. Can you move another one into the same cPanel?
The free service is designed for moving into an empty cPanel account, because a transfer overwrites what is already there. If your account already has a live website, tell us in the ticket. We will either migrate the new site manually or set it up as an addon domain, so nothing existing is lost.
Will my site go offline during the move?
The old site keeps running throughout. There is a short changeover when DNS is updated, which we plan with you rather than doing unannounced.
What do I need to do afterwards?
Check the new site carefully — pages, forms, email and any payment integrations. Only cancel the old hosting once you are satisfied everything works.
